About Me
Hello there! I'm Hiko (Yanchen) Wu, a problem-solving and multifaceted designer with over 6 years of digital design experience and 2 years of experience in project management and art direction.
I'm fluent in multiple design programs and technologies. I'm recognized as a collaborative team leader with excellent interpersonal skills, strong multitasking abilities, a fast learner, a strong work ethic, and unparalleled creative talent.
My Story
I was born in Yantai, a small seaside town in China. At the age of 19, I came to the US alone for college in Philadelphia. After graduating from Temple University, I moved to Los Angeles.
What makes me become a designer
My interest in design began with my father, a woodcarver who specialized in mahogany furniture and wall decors. I grew up surrounded by his exquisite art pieces. However, my father eventually gave up his artistic aspirations to open a hot pot restaurant, aiming for a more stable income for our family.
Upon coming to the US, I gained the freedom to pursue my own path. I decided to major in art to follow the passion coursing through my veins. I am passionate about being a designer because it allows me to tell stories through my designs and content. I firmly believe that effective visual design is a universal language that everyone can understand. Simultaneously, I find immense satisfaction in helping the people I collaborate with, enabling me to give my best.

Sceptre is a leading innovator in LCD/HDTV and monitor displays with over 30 years of experience. The company is based in the City of Industry, CA, and is one of the top-selling display brands with collaborations with Amazon and Walmart.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and collaborating with other designers in a fast-paced environment to create graphics and video content for e-commerce and marketing campaigns.
- Collaborating with engineers to develop and design product operating systems.
- Providing creative strategies and artwork references for the marketing manager and director.
- Communicating with manufacturers in China, receiving and designing product artworks for each new or revised product.
- Creating over 200 graphics and video content pieces for Sceptre's social media platforms.
Chinese in Entertainment (CIE) is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California, with a branch in Beijing, China. Their mission is to connect and empower talent from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Chinese diaspora, and to promote Chinese culture in the global entertainment industry.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the video production process, from initial setup to the final video content.
- Editing over 70 hours of video footage weekly according to a predefined creative strategy and time constraints.
- Produced 3 interview videos featuring 3 renowned Chinese film directors for the 2nd Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival.
- Edited and posted over 50 articles, graphics, and videos for CIE's social media platforms.
TUTV is Temple University's digital cable station, broadcasting to the city of Philadelphia on channel 50 via Comcast digital cable and channel 45 on Verizon FIOS.
Responsibilities include:
- Operating the TV studio camera for 27 live TV shows with the TUTV production group.
- Collaborating with the floor manager to prepare lighting and floor setups before the start of each live show.
New Mainstream Media is the publishing company behind two prominent Asian newspapers: Metro Chinese Weekly and Metro Viet News, serving the Greater Philadelphia region. These publications collectively reach a quarter of a million Asians across Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Northern Delaware.
Responsibilities include:
- Worked as one of the videographers with the production crew.
- Designed the intro and edited seven episodes (comprising one season) of a Philadelphia tourism reality show.
- Managed multitasking in a budget-limited production environment.
